Building Partnerships:
Chancellor Greenwood's first quarter at Santa Cruz

In the fall quarter, her first at UCSC, Chancellor M.R.C. Greenwood made an impressive effort to get to know the campus--visiting colleges, laboratories, and offices and meeting with students, faculty, and staff. The whirlwind intro- duction didn't stop with the campus, though, as she reached out to alumni, donors, legislators, and other key members of the greater UCSC community. The chancellor also met with K12 educators, business leaders, Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, and California farmers. "The modern research university doesn't thrive in isolation," she says. "I'm committed to building strong links within the campus and between UCSC and our important constituencies."
