Face painting and pumpkin painting are always a big hit
with the many children who attend UCSC's Harvest Festival each year. The
festival held this past fall was special for another reason: It was part
of a weekend of activities marking the 30th anniversary of UCSC's Farm &
Garden. In all, the three-day celebration in early October attracted more
than 1,000 people to UCSC for tours, workshops, and garden talks; a Saturday-evening
benefit dinner that featured a vegetarian menu prepared by some of the area's
best-known chefs; and a Sunday symposium for alumni of the Farm's apprenticeship
program. (Photo: Jennifer McNulty) |
